Excitement is already growing for the British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre Open Day which takes place on Saturday, August 20.
The centre is the biggest in Britain dedicated to the retraining and rehoming of retired racehorses to give them happy and useful lives once their racing days are over.
As the pioneers in the field the British Thoroughbred Retraining Centre was launched 25 years ago with 2016 being a very special anniversary.
Visitors will be treated to an action packed schedule of events including a thrilling medieval jousting display by Lionheart Entertainments and falconry on horseback by Dartmoor Hawking.
Throughout the day there will also be the opportunity to meet the team, view the stables and facilities and enjoy seeing all their horses.
Said BTRC Chief Executive, Gillian Carlisle: “We are very excited about holding our 2016 Open Day which is a fantastic opportunity for people to see exactly what the charity does and to meet all our horses.
“To celebrate our 25th Anniversary we are running the Ride for Retraining campaign which is just one way for everyone to get involved in our great fundraising appeal.
“All you have to do is sign up for the Ride for Retraining campaign on the website, to receive a free Ride for Retraining hi-viz tabard and ride as many miles as you can, on your own, with a friend or as part of a planned ride such as a pleasure ride or endurance activity.
“The money raised at the Open Day and through Ride for Retraining will all go towards building our exciting new stable block.”
The founder of the BTRC Carrie Humble MBE, will also be attending the Open Day.
