With the final event of the year approaching British Eventing announce the fixtures list for 2017, featuring new dates and classes along with the popular and long standing events back for the new season.
BE Chief Executive David Holmes commented: “We are delighted bring you the BE fixtures list for 2017 as we welcome both new and returning events to the calendar. It is great to see the Gatehouse 1* League, launched in 2016, back for next year and the expansion of the new BE105 level which was trialled during the 2016 season, along with the continuation of the successful British Eventing leagues; both the Calver Wealth Management 2* League and Fairfax Britannia League held at 3* level.
“The Fixtures Team and Regional Coordinators have been working hard this season to maintain the number of competition opportunities around the country as well as introducing new events.
“Whilst we have sadly lost some long standing horse trials it is testament to the growth in the sport that we have a healthy number of venues. Thank you to all organisers for your huge efforts in running British Eventing affiliated fixtures both old and new and of course a special thank you to our Officials and volunteers without whom none of these great events would be able to happen.”
Scotland hosts an additional fixture at Kirriemuir Horse Trials, Angus, on the 2nd July 2017, as they also include a new Novice class to both their new fixture and 6th May date.
British Eventing welcome Epworth Horse Trials to the BE calendar for the first time as they get things underway in South Yorkshire on the opening weekend of the season (4th and 5th March 2017) and will be running from BE80(T) to BE100Open level.
Horseheath in Cambridgeshire have added an extra spring date which will see them running two fixtures, on the 12th -13 April and 12th – 13th August, in 2017 for BE80(T) to BE100Open riders.
Northumberland adds the new Alnwick Ford Horse Trials to their fixtures list on 24th and 25th June for riders competing at BE90 up to Open Novice.
Poplar Park in Suffolk are, for the first time, running a second date in May on the 21st and 22nd at BE80(T) to BE105 levels adding to their first fixture on the 11th and 12th March 2017.
