Coaches gather for Coaching Convention

Those coaching from grassroots to Olympic level attended the two day event at Hartpury this week (6-7 March).

More than 1,200 people attended, hearing demonstrations from Yogi Breisner MBE FBHS, William Fox-Pitt, Sophie Wells MBE and Danny Anholt FBHS. International event groom Jackie Potts spoke on both days, giving an insight into the life of an international event groom.

Alex Copeland, Director of Education at the BHS said, “Our National Coaching Convention is a great opportunity for coaches to get together, listen to the best in the industry and share ideas.

“Coaching can be quite an isolating job, so events like these are invaluable for our Accredited Professional Coaches, it allows them to get out there and see examples of best practice. I hope they all came away with new tools and techniques.”

On the second day, Sam York was presented with her Fellowship certificate. The fellowship is the highest qualification the BHS offers and is rated as one of the highest coaching accreditations in the world. Fellows are an inspiration as leaders in equine education by supporting the work and activities of The British Horse Society. It is an honour that earns the recipient global acknowledgment of their achievements and stellar reputation. Above all, a Fellow of the British Horse Society will work tirelessly for the good of the horse.
