Hoof Capital funded Centre celebrates opening of new facilities

S&G Equine Limited will unveil their new equestrian facilities at an open day on Friday 30 September. Thanks to the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) Hoof Capital funding award of £17,500 along with investment from landlord Adrian Marsh, the centre now features a newly resurfaced main arena with top quality Martin Collins surface and a new warm-up and beginners arena, utilising the old surface off the main arena.

Over the last three years the BEF has invested over £500,000 into riding centres and organisations to help increase participation in equestrian sports. Centres were invited to submit bids in April 2016 with grants awarded to those projects that could clearly deliver increased participation for equestrianism and have a positive sustainable impact to their local community.

newcentre3The new facilities at S&G Equine Limited will allow the centre to meet the demand for beginner and starter riding lessons and equestrian events which they have previously been struggling to for fill. Sarah Weaver, proprietor of S&G Equine Limited is delighted with the new facilities;

“Our main arena is a great size but the surface was in desperate need of replacement and the demand for our lessons and events meant we were struggling to fit everything in. What this amazing funding has done, is allow us to clear some wasteland on our site and build a new warm-up and beginners arena, utilising the surface off the current arena. We were then able to have the main arena completely re-surfaced with a top quality Martin Collins surface which has massively improved the main arena. Everyone loves it – including the horses!

Our contractor, Sam Allman and his team pulled out all the stops to get the building work done really quickly, so we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to our new arenas. We cannot thank Sport England and the BEF enough for the investment in our facilities and our Landlord, Adrian Marsh for having the confidence in our business to match the funding and make this happen.”

newcentre2The beginner and starter lessons at S&G Equine Limited cater for both young riders and those who haven’t ridden for some time and are looking to get back in the saddle. Next month sees the start of their next Take Back the Reins course, which is a structured series of riding lessons that include specific coaching designed to support a rider’s first steps in or back into the saddle.

S&G Equine Limited is also the home for Weaver Equestrian Riding Club and Pony Club and they are looking forward to being able to offer a broader range of lessons and competitions to the clubs and their riders of all ages and abilities.

The open day in September will be a chance for the public to explore the new facilities and also take the opportunity to enjoy FREE 10 minute taster horse riding sessions.

“Horse riding is an excellent way to keep fit and healthy,” explains Sarah. “It’s fun, challenging and really rewarding and great for core strength, building confidence and weight loss… so this is an ideal time for people to join us, get fit and make new friends.”
