Foxhound Riding School in Orsett, Essex will unveil their new equestrian facilities at a Christmas Open Day on Sunday 11 December 10am to 2pm. Thanks to the British Equestrian Federation (BEF) Hoof Capital funding award of £15,000 along with investment from proprietors Louise and David Creamer, to surface their new 60m x 40m outdoor arena along with flood lights.
Over the last three years the BEF has invested over £800,000 into riding centres and organisations to help increase participation in equestrian sports. Centres were invited to submit bids in April 2016 with grants awarded to those projects that could clearly deliver increased participation for equestrianism and have a positive sustainable impact to their local community.
The new facilities at Foxhound Riding School will allow them to respond to the high demand for riding lessons at the centre where previously they haven’t been able to. The centre works closely within the local community and have built good relationships with a number of local schools including a school for children with special needs.
Foxhound Riding School is a Pony Club Centre providing opportunities for children without their own horses or ponies as well as providing lessons for adults wanting to return or start horse riding.
The centre has approximately 100 participants working towards British Horse Society (BHS) qualifications including the Essential Horse Knowledge Certificate and Progressive Riding Tests.
Louise and David Creamer said “We would like to thank the BEF for all their help with the grant; we are really pleased to have gained it. Already the advantages of having it done are considerable. We can’t thank you enough.”
The Christmas Open Day in December will be a chance for the public to explore the new facilities and take the opportunity to enjoy FREE pony rides in the new arena. Attendees will also be treated to a Christmas market featuring a variety of stalls, including cakes and crafts as well as a Santa Claus meet and great for all ages.
If that wasn’t enough, the riders at Foxhound will also be putting on a selection of demonstrations throughout the day including showjumping, flatwork and gymkhana.
